The Poplar Bluff Police Department arrested Bernard Gales Jr., 30, on Sunday evening.

January 15th marks the 34th Annual Community Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Wheatley School in Poplar Bluff. Dozens of people came to support the event and participate in the morning of celebratory festivities.

The suspect in last week’s shooting at Motel 6 was arrested Monday morning after a lengthy pursuit by the Poplar Bluff Police Department, Butler County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
