City firefighters responded at 12:03 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, to a report of a fire alarm to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 2620 North Westwood Blvd. According to the report, while en route dispatch contacted crews to inform them it was a false alarm. Crews arrived and saw sprinklers were activated, made contact with security and were notified maintenance was working on frozen sprinkler lines and there was no fire, and it was under control. Bus, SUV accident

A SCMCAA Head Start bus and a Ford SUV collided around 4 p.m. Monday afternoon at the unmarked intersection of McKinley and Woodrow streets, with both vehicles landing in the yard of 1603 Woodrow St. The SUV is believed to have hit the house, while bus stopped in the yard, according to witness reports. One person from the Ford was transported by emergency medical services personnel to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, according to officials on scene. Butler County EMS personnel evaluated four children who were on the bus before another school bus took them to the hospital to be checked again as a precaution, according to Head Start personnel. No one in the house appeared to be injured, officials said. Poplar Bluff police, firefighters and utilities employees, along Spire Gas employees were at the scene.
