Juanita Ruth Mann, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, entered the gates of Heaven Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at her home. Juanita was born March 30, 1947, in Shelbyville, Kentucky. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff, where she served in the church nursery for many years. Juanita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family...

Volunteers are in need of more than 30,000 candy canes for the 30th annual Festival of Lights Auto Tour and partners are asking for donations. The University of Missouri Wayne County Extension and the Wayne County 4-H have joined with the Wappapello Lake Area Association and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers to help with this effort...

The Poplar Bluff High School Pom Squad has earned the opportunity to compete at the National Dance Alliance in Orlando Florida in March of 2023 after recently participating in NDA Camp this year. First year PBHS Pom Squad coach Ashley Griffin said, “Coaching this team for the first time at camp was so rewarding. They worked extremely hard to push past challenges brought on by camp. I’m so proud of their growth from day one to now and look forward to watching them compete at the national level.”...

A significant increase in the number of attendees brought fundraising to $40,000 for the second annual Designer Handbag Bingo event, which benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event was organized by the Poplar Bluff Heroes team. Cody Paul Keith Shearin, 26, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1995, in Poplar Bluff, to Melissa Shearin and Paul Shearin Jr. Cody was very intelligent; he could fix just about anything.
