Southeast Missouri is mourning. After widespread support and donations enabled Poplar Bluff High School student Marsha Hawes to get a kidney transplant, her body unexpectedly and fatally rejected the new organ.

A 2000 Dodge SUV was towed at 1:21 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, during a traffic stop on South Broadway after it was determined that the vehicle was not insured. The driver was issued a traffic ticket. _ Dillon Smith, 23, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Casey’s on Highway 53. Smith was booked on the charge of trespassing first-degree and lodged in the Butler County jail...
