CAPE GIRARDEAU — A Poplar Bluff man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug-trafficking and firearm related charges.

In what ended up being a tough battle to the finish, the Butler County Community Resource Counsel third grade spelling bee saw one word after another being spelled back and forth from one child to the next; but eventually a winner emerged. Clara Wilkerson, a third grade student at O’Neal Elementary School was victorious.

Travis Gregory Brunelle, 31, of Poplar Bluff was taken into custody Wednesday, Feb. 28, for an active warrant.
