Guy Bryan “Butch” Shackelford (age 75) passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on April 30, 2020, following a hard-fought battle with esophageal cancer. Born on Aug. 1, 1944, in Memphis, Tenn., Butch moved to Poplar Bluff at a young age and attended Kinyon Elementary. He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1962 as a two-time letterman in track and field. He attended Arkansas State University for two years before joining the United States Air Force in October 1964. Butch spent three years stationed in Montana and one year serving NATO overseas in Turkey during the Vietnam War. He was a sergeant in the Air Police at the time of his honorable discharge in October 1968.. ...
