QULIN — Wilma Geniece Hefner, formerly of Qulin, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, at the age of 98. Born on Dec. 21, 1923, in Malden, Missouri, to the late Frank and Florena Skidmore Huffman, Geniece moved with her family to Qulin when she was six. She grew up in the Osborn community and faithfully attended Osborn General Baptist Church for nearly 90 years...

FISK, Mo. — Wanda “Loudena” Trout, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Trout was born May 4, 1938 in Broseley, Missouri, to the late Freeman and Effie (Presson) Allen. On April 17, 1957 she married James “Tommy” Trout. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2020...

Four people were injured, three seriously, in a pair of area accidents, one occurring Sunday evening and the other happening Monday morning, according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The first accident occurred at 6:50 p.m. Sunday on County Road 279, two miles east of Puxico in Stoddard County...

VAN BUREN — The Landing ceremonially broke ground Monday morning for its new facilities, after the previous lodge was destroyed by a fire last September. Buildings separate from The Landing were spared from the blaze, but the main resort with its restaurant, store and recreation office was a loss. Tom Bedell, The Landing’s founder, spoke over rumbling machinery and power tools as he praised Dille Pollard Architecture and Zoellner Construction for their work on the new facilities...

Crossroads Ministries of Poplar Bluff is hosting its second annual ‘Show Me Jesus’ conference at 6 nightly March 31 through April 3. The four day event will present a variety of faith based speakers delivering messages of inspiration to attendees. The Crossroads Band will also entertain the crowd with contemporary Christian music throughout the event. The conference will be held at the Crossroads Ministries location at 416 South C Street in Poplar Bluff and is open to everyone...
