BLOOMFIELD — A Dexter man recently received a 20-year sentence as a result of being found guilty of first degree rape, second degree statutory rape and possession of child pornography.

Event to benefit Rodgers is Thursday

The eighth annual Restore the Rodgers Banquet will be Thursday at the Black River Coliseum. Social hour will be from 6-7 p.m., followed by a catered dinner. Entertainment will be The Sisters of Swing, followed by a charity auction. Macy Webb from the group stated they are excited to perform at the banquet.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Heartland broke ground on a new 31,000-square-foot Regional Workforce Development Teen Center 15 years in the making Monday afternoon. A lineup of stakeholders and visionaries for the project addressed the crowd of community leaders and sponsorship partners in the freshly cleared and annexed lot next to Highway 67 and Poplar Bluff High School.
