At the October meeting of the Poplar Bluff R-I School Board, Superintendent Dr. Aaron Cornman presented the board with several options for equipment designed to improve school security.

A 19-year-old Poplar Bluff man received serious injuries in a one-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s report, Austin D. Shepherd was traveling northbound on Butler County Road 459 five miles south of Poplar Bluff in a 2023 Can-An Outlander when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned. Three Rivers College staff are celebrating their success in an international marketing competition. The board of trustees learned of this at its Oct. 16 meeting, and also reviewed successful sports and academic events.

The City of Poplar Bluff is continuing the process to update its Comprehensive Plan, which helps the community plan for the future. As part of it, the city is conducting open public meetings to discuss a number of topics to be included in the plan.
